Overview of the CITB Health & Safety Awareness Course delivered remotely

The CITB Health & Safety Awareness Course is delivered remotely this is done via online platform zoom and is tutor led by our vastly experienced instructors with over 30 years experience in construction, the course content is exactly the same as the classroom, this is done via a laptop with a camera/webcam, the course is aimed at delegates entering the industry or even people that are working in the construction or engineering sector already, the course should provide the delegate with an understanding of his duties under current legislation to take care of his own health & Safety and others eg contractors and the public.

Course Content

Legal & Management
A Look at the Current Health & Safety Statistics RIDDOR reportable injuries.
Health & Safety Law Employees and Employers duties, HASWA 1974, other legislation for example Working at Height Regs COSHH, RIDDOR.
Health & welfare
Including Hazardous substances COSHH signs asbestos Dust (Respiratory Hazards) and routes of entry, First Aid, PPE, Noise & Vibration, Manual Handling, Mental health & Stress & drugs
General Safety
Safety signs Fire prevention extinguishers, Electrical Safety, work equipment & hand held tools, mobile work equipment, lifting operations & equipment, workplace transport.
High Risk activities
Working at Height, Confined spaces, Excavations, Overhead and underground services
Environment
Invasive species
Waste management
Environmental responsibilities

Assessment

The Course Assessment consists of a multiple choice test of 25 questions 5 of the questions are safety critical and are 2 point questions, giving a total score of 30, to pass you need to score 25 this is equivalent to 83%.

Certification

At the end of the course, if the delegate attends the full course and passes the end of course test they will be awarded an accredited Site Safety Plus, Health & Safety Awareness Certificate, this Certificate goes towards the CSCS Green Card, the Certificate can take between 5 and 10 working days.

Who can attend

The one day Health & Safety Awareness (site safety plus) is for those that are entering construction or existing workers that are already working in the construction & engineering sector.

Prerequisites

A good understanding of spoken and written English will be necessary in order to attend the course.

The course needs to be done from a laptop with a camera/webcam and working microphone

Delegates need to have acceptable identification that is required as stipulated by the CITB if none is available then a waiver form needs to be completed.
